Bright & Light! New Jamaica Blue Kiosk Format is Here

Over the past thirty years, Jamaica Blue has become an Australian staple for exceptional coffee and contemporary classic dishes. Now customers at Southlands Boulevarde – a busy shopping centre in Willetton, Perth – can enjoy Jamaica Blue in a convenient new kiosk format near key anchor stores!

Southlands franchisee Ken has a proven track record with Jamaica Blue. He first joined the brand eight years ago, and this marks his third store in Perth. The others are located a 10 minute drive and 40 minutes drive away respectively. Ken will continue to spend time in each store but is focusing on building the customer base within Southlands.

“This is close to home. We’ve always been locals to Willetton so we were excited when an opportunity opened up,” says Ken. We’re looking forward to getting to know the clientele more and building up strong relationships.”

Ken says that one of the challenges of running multiple franchise sites is adjusting to the different demographic in each location.

“For example, one of our other stores is near a university, so there are a lot of students. The other is popular with office workers, while this new store within a shopping centre has a slightly older demographic.”

“So there are adjustments in customer service and product mix. Some customers like a chat and are a bit more challenged by using the App, while others are digitally-savvy and want quick service.”

A Flexible, Stylish Format

The new Southlands Boulevarde kiosk is no exception, offering locals and shoppers convenient, premium coffee and freshly prepared takeaway meals.

A major feature of the new kiosk is the self-ordering feature, while the traditional counter service also remains. “Any franchisee wants to see a brand innovating and evolving,” says Matthew Williams, Chief Development Officer of Foodco .

“People’s expectations have changed; people are more time-poor. So we are introducing self-ordering

kiosks. Of course, customers can still walk up to the counter and get served but this provides a swift takeaway service option.”

Jamaica Blue has also upgraded the kiosk’s coffee equipment, ensuring the continuing quality that customers have come to expect. In fact, Jamaica Blue’s coffee is of such a high standard that it won six awards at the prestigious Golden Bean coffee competition in 2024.

Innovative Tech Plus a Fresh New Look

The streamlined kiosk format is the first of its kind for Jamaica Blue. It will also harness Jamaica Blue’s vibrant new store design, which features a brighter colour palette. Summery shades of apricot, pistachio and ‘yacht race’ blue will elevate the classic coastal blue and white with which the brand has always been associated.

Sustainability has also been placed at the forefront of the redesign, with recycled materials and furnishings that can be retreated or repainted rather than replaced. It’s an approach that aligns with today’s environmentally conscious concerns, while also providing cost-effective solutions for franchisees when it comes to refits.

Comprehensive Training and Support for Franchisees
