In Jamaica, there’s a saying – ‘wan wan coco full baskit’.

Take your time. Slow down. Stop rushing. You will achieve your goals.

It’s a sentiment we live by. Which is why each of our cafés is a haven, a space where you can take a little time out to relax and reflect. To stop for a minute and simply enjoy the moment. To recalibrate and recharge. Jamaica Blue currently operates over 170 cafés in 7 countries around the world.

We’ve been fueling your mind and body since opening our first café in Miranda, NSW, in 1992.

We’ve also been fueling your caffeine habit, but let’s just keep that between us.

October 1992

WE TOOK THE PLUNGE(R)… FIRST JAMAICA BLUE OPENS IN MIRANDA, NSW

Yep, the Sutherland Shire was where it all started.

Sourcing our coffee from the Blue Mountains of Jamaica, and putting a twist on classic foods, we were one of a kind.

Truth be told, we still are.

JUNE 1993

WE BROUGHT CARIBBEAN COOL TO CARINDALE, QLD

Sunny Queensland was next in line to enjoy our unique combination of superior tasting Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee and distinctive Caribbean vibe.

DECEMBER 1993

WE OPEN OUR FIRST CAFE IN VICTORIA… FRANKSTON, TO BE EXACT

Hello Victoria. In just over a year coffee lovers in three States were enjoying a chance to unwind… Jamaican style.

DECEMBER 1998

WE GO INTERNATIONAL!

New Zealand immediately embraced Jamaica Blue, loving our laid-back atmosphere and, of course, our great coffee.

DECEMBER 2000

WESTERN AUSTRALIA WELCOMES US WITH OPEN ARMS

Santa delivered a special gift to Western Australians for Christmas in 2000 – their first Jamaican Blue cafe! Whitford fell in love with our fine coffee and delicious food sections… and it’s a love affair that continues to this day.

APRIL 2001

THE JAMACIA BLUE SIGNATURE BLEND IS INTRODUCED

To provide the ultimate coffee, you need the ultimate blend. We sourced the very best beans from a variety of altitudes, developing a signature blend that’s full-bodied and creamy with a hint of delicate chocolate notes.

In other words, it’s divine.

APRIL 2001

THE JAMACIA BLUE DECAFFEINATED BLEND IS INTRODUCED

Who says you can’t have exquisite coffee without the caffeine? Decaffeinated using pure Swiss water and dried naturally, we introduced a delicate blend with a light finish. All completely chemical free.

OUR FIRST FORAY INTO AUSTRALIA’S NORTHERN TERRITORY

Casuarina was the first town in the Northern Territory to savour our blissful range of coffees and enjoy a true escape with every visit.

JUNE 2004

SOUTH AUSTRALIA HERE WE COME

Our inaugural South Australian cafe opened in West Lakes in 2004, encouraging locals to recharge, relax and reflect. Yep, we were one of the first to help transform Adelaide from the city of churches to the city of coffee.

DECEMBER 2005

CHINA EXPERIENCES JAMAICA BLUE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Our fine coffee and fresh menu was an instant hit in China! With our first cafe opening in December 2005, it wasn’t long before other Jamaica Blues were opened, and embraced, across the country.

FEBRUARY 2006

WE INTRODUCE ONE OF THE MOST RARE COFFEES IN THE WORLD

In 2006 we introduced Wallenford Estate Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee, a single origin coffee found only in the Blue Mountain range of Jamaica and grown for more than two centuries. Incredibly rare and prized by coffee experts, a cup of Wallenford Estate is a truly luxurious escape.

APRIL 2008

WE INTRODUCED OUR ORGANIC FAIRTRADE BLEND

Our organic coffee is kind to the environment by relying on natural planting methods. It’s also important to us that farmers get a better deal through Fairtrade Certified guarantees, ensuring the coffee has been produced and traded under fair conditions.

OCTOBER 2009

WE ENTER THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

Our message of ‘wan wan coco ful baskit’ resonated with coffee lovers in the United Arab Emirates. Since introducing Jamaican Blue in 2009, fans have been able to enjoy the pleasures of the perfect cup every day.

SEPTEMBER 2010

WE INTRODUCED OUR DELICIOUS LITE BLUE RANGE

Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too? Recognising the increased need for healthy options, we developed our Delicious Lite Blue Range. With all of the indulgence and none of the guilt, our dishes focused on fresh ingredients and full flavour while being low in calories and fat.

With all Lite Blue main meal items containing less than 6g of saturated fat and less than 2100kj per serve, there’s no need to compromise on health or taste.

OCTOBER 2010

ENJOY JAMAICA BLUE COFFEE AT HOME

Coffee cravings aren’t limited from 9 to 5, so we introduced a range of take-home packs. Available in both ground and whole bean varieties, fans can now indulge with an exquisite coffee moment at any time.

2011

WE’RE INTERNATIONAL AWARD WINNERS!

It’s the Oscars for coffee. The CSR Golden Bean competition is the largest coffee roasting event in the Southern Hemisphere, and we were awarded a prestigious Gold medal.

Our Signature Blend won not only Bronze in the Coffee Chain Espresso category, but we brought home the Gold in the Coffee Milk Chain category. Made from 100% Arabica beans, the judges agreed… we roast our blend to perfection!

2012

20 YEARS STRONG

We turned 20 in 2012 as demand for our fresh food and cracking Jamaican coffee continued to grow worldwide.

One thing’s for sure – no one can say we’re all froth and no substance!

2014

100 CAFES FOR YOU TO TAKE TIME OUT

We officially hit a century on 16 October 2014, opening our 100th café in Australia at Westfield Miranda.

And it’s a double whammy – shoppers love us so much it’s actually our second café in Miranda Westfield, with the first being our inaugural Jamaica Blue in 1992. Giddyup!

2017

WINNERS ARE GRINNERS… HAPPY DAYS

Our mums couldn’t be prouder. Not only did we turn 25, but we also cleaned up at the Pentair Everpure Golden Bean Roaster’s Competition, the world’s largest coffee roasting competition.

Not only were we awarded four medals across four categories, but were also named Golden Bean Large Franchise of the Year. Hotly contested (just like our coffee – boom tish!), we’re honoured to be held in such high esteem by our peers.

Want to know how our coffee aficionado starts his day? With an espresso followed by a flat white.

Jeremy and his palette work hard to develop our single origin coffee, each of which change seasonally to complement our menus. His talent also extends to ensuring that The Signature Blend was designed to taste as awesome as a milk beverage as it does as an espresso – no mean feat.
